Study Details

Ages	18 years or older
Duration	Up to 60 weeks in total, including a run-in period, treatment phase, withdrawal phase and safety follow up.

Description

Many Australians live with blood pressure that remains elevated despite being on two or more blood pressure medications — a condition sometimes referred to as uncontrolled or resistant hypertension. This can significantly increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other serious cardiovascular events.

This study investigated whether a new oral once-daily tablet, which works through a different mechanism to most existing blood pressure medications, can help lower blood pressure in people who are not well controlled on their current treatment. The trial has now completed enrolment, and its findings will contribute to research into new approaches for managing difficult-to-treat high blood pressure.

Eligibility checklist

Age 18 years and older

Blood pressure that remains too high despite taking two or more medications, one of which is a diuretic (fluid tablet)

Blood pressure reading that is greater than or equal to 140mmHg at screening visit.

Able to attend in-person clinic visits in Ipswich.
