Study Details

Ages

  18 years or older 
Duration Up to approximately 56 weeks in total, including a screening period of up to 14 days, a 52 week treatment period and a 10-day safety follow-up after the last dose.

Description

Elevated LDL cholesterol, often called "bad cholesterol", is one of the leading contributors to cardiovascular disease. For people who have already experienced a heart attack, stroke, or significant cardiovascular event, or who are at high risk of a first event, lowering LDL to recommended levels is an important part of reducing the risk of future serious events.

Despite a range of existing cholesterol-lowering treatments including statins, many people do not reach recommended LDL targets. This study investigated whether a new oral once-daily tablet, taken alongside existing cholesterol medication, could significantly reduce LDL cholesterol levels. The trial has now completed enrolment and its findings will contribute to the development of new treatment options in this area.
