Description
Obesity and overweight are complex, long-term conditions affecting millions of Australians. They can place significant strain on the body — contributing to high blood pressure, sleep apnoea, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease — as well as impacting energy, confidence, and day-to-day quality of life.
While healthy eating, physical activity, and behavioural support are important foundations of weight management, many people find that long-term weight loss is difficult to achieve and sustain. This study is exploring whether a once-weekly injectable treatment can provide meaningful, sustained support for weight management over time, by targeting pathways involved in appetite, eating behaviour, and metabolic regulation.
People with prediabetes are welcome to apply. If you have prediabetes at the start of the study, you may be invited to take part in an extended participation period, with the aim of understanding whether the treatment may also help delay or reduce progression to type 2 diabetes.
